Project Presentation

“VoluntYOU – Youth Obsessed with Useful actions”- is a multilateral exchange which, first of all, will give an opportunity to improve the intercultural dialogue amongst youngster from 15 European countries. The share of experiences leads to a deeper understanding and acceptance and of the differences that exists between cultures and contributes to break the existing stereotypes.

The main objective of this exchange is to motivate young people for active participation in civil society through volunteering in general and the European Voluntary Service in particular. Moreover, the project also wants its participants to feel moved by the problem of poverty and social exclusion and feel motivated to fight it. This effect will be to develop activities in the artistic nature and methods of non-formal education will be based on work social inclusion and combating poverty and in the end will be submitted to the local community. The purpose of this report is not only to present the results to the local community but also encourages them to participate actively during the presentation.

Participates and partners

For this project we will have 60 participants from 15 countries. Each country will be by 4 people (between 18 and 25 years old) plus the team leader.

Activities

The participants will go through a series of art activities in which the final objective is to show to the local community, namely, a paint exposition, a theatre play, a dance choreography and street animation performance (through music, facial paintings, between others). For this project it will be created 6 groups of different arts disciplines and each participant will select the one who likes most according to the available places:
  • Street animation – Through juggling, balloons sculpture and face paintings, this group will create several types of interventions. After getting to know the intervention place, teams will be created to explore better each one of the sub-areas of this discipline.
  • Theatre – This group will prepare a theatre play to represent the local community.
  • Music – This group will be composed by youngsters that like music but that they had never had the chance to play any instrument. It will be given the chance to the participants to learn how to play instruments: African drum, jambe, djidjirido. This group will be responsible for livening up and to advertise the all project in the local community.
  • Dance group – This group will be composed for all those that identify with dance, the objective will be, like the theatre group, to elaborate a choreography and present it to the local community.
  • Exhibition - This group will be composed for those that want to develop projects in the area of the painting, graffiti and sculpture. Initially they will work in groups on the sketches of the art pieces that they would like to develop. On a second phase they will build their ideas and in the end an exposition with will be present with the final output.
  • Communication – This group will coordinate the design and communication department for this project in order to reach the local community and all Europe. We will use web tools, newsletters, short movies, photos and so on and so forth.
We would like to create a voluntYOU community group. To attain this it will be created 2 more working groups which composition will change every day. The groups are:
A. Logistic – It will be responsible for logistic stuff: food, cleaning, write message for group, animation
during free time.
B. Surprise – during the exchange we will have more activities and the participants have space to
propose their ideas.
