Traditional Culture and Sustainable Development Bulgaria, will apply for the February 1st deadline for a short term EVS activity "Learn, Realize, Help" in the frame of the project "Youth Innovative Center for Sustainable Rural Development" (2008-BG-33, http://ec.europa.eu/youth/evs/aod/hei_form_en.cfm?EID=22000060801 ). The project is going to take place in the Rodopi mountains, in the village of Ravnogor. Ravnogor has already been home for 11 EVS volunteers in 2009 and 2010, who founded (together with young people from Bulgaria) the youth center in the village and setup the basics for the activities in 2011.
The region of Ravnogor possesses rich nature and cultural resources, which is a good prerequisite for enriching local economy through developing of alternative tourism. The main points of our agenda this summer will be:
- clearing and marking the trails in the region,
- popularizing the region as an attractive tourism destination (creating an interactive website, a map and brochures)
- developing further the youth innovative center, insuring better conditions for its visitors
Unfortunately the dynamics of 21st century had taken the young people away from the mountains and rural areas. Mountain areas are one of the most vulnerable ones and are facing a lot of environmental and social problems. That's why we directed our efforts to the region of Ravnogor In order to overcome those challenges we should first be well informed and prepared, so we can be responsible habitants of the world. Our organization will provide a non-formal educational training on these topics during the EVS.
The short term EVS-activity "Learn, Realize, Help" will be with duration of two months (01.07.2011 - 01.09.2011). The participants we need have to be creative and open-minded people between 18 and 30 years old.
